Specializing in illustrated stories, sequential art, and books.
My intention is to provide the full experience of art, design and writing.
I'm an experienced Book Designer and Illustrator with a love for beautifully inked lines and vivid color washes. I'm all about illustrated stories, sequential art, and books intended to give you the full experience of art, design and writing. I began my career working in the traditional publishing industry, and have since transitioned into a nice blend of the old way with the new.
I began my book design career over ten years ago, at Avalon Publishing Group in New York. I was taken under the wing of the senior creative director and was trained in both cover design, interior book design and art direction. Just over five years ago, I launched my own small publishing house, Bohème Publishing. At Bohème, we believe independent publishing and bookselling are burgeoning, and are committed to creating expansive, high quality books, devoted to good writing, good design, and the importance of illustration as a literary element. As the creative art director and publisher, I work closely with both the authors and the artists, so I understand the publishing and design process from both sides. I understand that a good book needs great packaging. I love the entire creative process of creating and publishing a book - from beginning to end!
As an illustrator, I graduated with a Masters in Sequential Art from Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). I have always been a huge fan of comics and graphic novels that are filled with detailed line work that's been intricately or elegantly hand-drawn, and hope that my style reflects that.
I have published book designs by Avalon Publishing Group Inc, The Nation, Carrol & Graf, Thunder's Mouth Press, Marlowe, Perseus LLC, Random House|Pantheon, and Manic D Press. I participated in two comic anthologies, Game Over and Playlist (some of the other featured artists were comic artists: Jorge Corona, Morgan Beem, and Ariel Kristantina to name a few). My illustrations, under the pen name Og, have showed at the Smith College Art Museum, Provincetown Art Museum (PAAM), Indigo Sky Community Gallery in Savannah, the Provincetown Public Library, the Berta Walker Gallery and Maison gallery.
